As always--the answers will not be found in deep introspection but in divine extrospection by searching the Scriptures in study and the heart of God in prayer.

i just recently moved back up to the phoenix area, after taking my own long break of serving, and am starting to look for a church and praying about how to get back into involvement with IC.

if you are up for it, i'd like to talk with you in an effort to move forward in both these things.

Any comment I can come up with may be just as disjointed as your blog... haha.

It's such a strange world into which we have been thrust. On the one hand, I feel so fortunate to have been exposed to the stories of people on the other side of the world- to have traveled and experienced firsthand, and then to truly know how blessed and fortunate I am.

But that sticks us in this strange sort of limbo, because we don't quite fit into the the lifestyle we were born into anymore, but we know that despite our travels and awareness, we really have no idea what it is to be Ugandan, for example.

It's a weird thing to wrestle with, but I guess the important thing is that you're doing that... and who knows if there really is an end to that process. Or this thought.

it made such perfect sense and your first couple of paragraphs are exactly why i had such a hard time my freshman year...all i could think about was the world and what I could be out doing, instead of doing busywork and writing nonsense papers that I wouldnt remember a week down the road...i havent been to Africa in 7 years, but to this day its so hard for me to buy things like new clothes and stuff i dont need..sometimes its hard not to feel guilty for everything im blessed with here, especially when i find myself being picky about stupid things, like not wanting any of the cereal in the pantry..it sounds rediculous, but i know 3 boxes of cereal is more food than so many people will see in the next month. a lot of people dont understand that feeling, either...the American dream is new, bigger, and better and thats what so many people strive for in life. I look on in disbelief and they dont understand why i dont want "nice" things or drop $50 on a t-shirt. i completely hear where youre comin from and couldnt agree more. wow, this was kind of a blog in itself, lol.

extremely well said..sometimes its so hard to remember that God has a bigger picture drawn out and we are only in one tiny piece of that picture at any given time...yet sooner or later, He always proves it, and sometimes we can even look back on days of so much struggle and doubt and understand exactly why things happened the way they did. and those are beautiful and precious moments!
